Living in the dustbowl
Quick update since the last blog. Marji and I got engaged, we bought a house, and we are now living together in St. Louis. I'm working on some amazing, enormous research projects at Wash U - one on the effect of BIS on intraoperative awareness and recall and the other screening all surgical patients to identify the incidence of undiagnosed obstructive sleep apnea.
Most recently, we have been doing a bunch of repairs on the house. We ripped up the carpeting in the living room to expose the hardwood floors underneath. I've installed a bunch of electrical outlets, phone jacks, and cable jacks. We took off the wood panels on one of the walls and it was not a good idea. The panels were held up there with glue and nails and the glue ripped off the sheetrock . We have been sanding and spackling and sanding and spackling. It really sucks. The entire house is an enormous dust bowl. We're almost done. Then we will paint. Then we're getting the floors resanded. Eventually, we'll redo the basement. It's a great project. Lots of work and money but it will be worth it.
Happy Hannukah and Christmas, everyone!
