Vacation
Wow, I finally made it to my last vacation of the internship year. Just in time, too. I have only 5 calls left and then I'm off to St. Louis to start a new life. It's a little scary. But here's what happened over this past week.
Last weekend, one of my best friends Joel got married. We had a very packed weekend of rehearsal dinners, brunches, weddings, photos, and another brunch. Marji and I hung out with Moshe and Christie quite a bit. It was nice to have some time off so that I could remember what it was like to feel human again. We all had fun at the rehearsal dinner - some more than others.
The wedding itself was beautiful. It was an outside wedding with perfect weather at the Wadsworth Mansion in Middletown, CT. We all had a great time, even though I was completely sober that night. Got lots of pictures. I'm going to try to post some if I can, but for some reason I can't get it to work.
After the wedding extravaganza, I started my last rotation of the year at a new hospital. It's actually not new to me, because it was where I did most of my med student rotations, but it's the first time as a doctor. It's ok, but it's a pain in the butt to learn a whole new system. I'll talk more about it. This place has a smell to it that reminds me of studying and stressing out about boards. I know that I've never really explained the whole "smell" thing that I keep coming back to in my blog postings. Simply, smells play a key role in memories and there are various smells to each hospital and even each section of the hospital. I'm not talking about the nasty smells of opening up an abscess filled with anaerobic bacteria or the smell of bad feet in a trauma bay. These are the indescribable odors that exist in certain places.
There will be more to come
